24-Hour Telephone Care Program (Triage)

    Questions and concerns about your healthcare can often  be answered over the telephone. Members of our Telephone Care Program (TCP) staff can assist you with healthcare advice, scheduling appointments, referrals to other healthcare providers and medication information and renewals. The TCP staff can be reached by calling (312) 569-8387 ext.58171. The Medical Center also offers a toll-free line by calling 1-800-591-4815.

Scheduling Appointments

    Veterans who wish to make, change or cancel an appointment can do so by calling the Medical Center's Telephone Care Program (312) 569-8387 ext.53780, or 1-888-569-5282. The Medical Center also offers a toll-free line by calling 1-800-591-4815. As a patient you play a crucial role in reducing wait times for appointments. Here's how you can help:

• Write down any medical questions you have prior to your appointment

• Be on time for appointments

• If you cannot keep a scheduled appointment, please call and cancel prior to the appointment time

• Do not arrive sooner than one hour before your scheduled appointment time, unless you have been specifically requested to do so.

Medication Refills

Veterans can order refills of their medications by:

• Mailing in the refill form included with all prescriptions.

• Calling the Medication Refill Service's 24-hour toll-free numbers at (888) 878-6888. This number also provides veterans the opportunity to speak with a pharmacist regarding their prescriptions if called on weekdays between 8am and 5pm.
